Barcelona, Day 1: Magic Fountain

After we rested in the hotel for a while, JJ said he wanted to take pictures of Magic Fountain in Montjuïc that evening as Magic Fountain didn't happen everyday. He was afraid if he didn't do it right away, he might never find time to do it because our itinerary was so jam-packed.

So there we went, we took the metro to Plaça Espanya to take pictures of Magic Fountain.

JJ is really a big kid in heart. He always goes out of his way to see fireworks and fountain shows. I would not bend over backwards for either but he sometimes makes me go. Obviously, I couldn't get out of this one.

I was trying to be artsy with this shot.

Magic fountain was indeed beautiful. Ok, maybe it was worth it. It would have been better if someone had been selling tapas on spot. I was hungry. The light show made me hallucinate - mainly about food.

The show kept looping every 30 minutes for 2 hours. Theres was a big crowd and it was hard to find a good spot to take pictures. But after the sky got really dark, most people just moved around or left. I am guessing they found out their cameras couldn't take a nice picture in low light so they didn't bother to stick around.

After the show, we passed by this former bullring, Les Arenes. It was remodeled and turned into a shopping mall.

That's it for the first night in Barcelona. We were exhausted but excited about all the new things. It had been an interesting day so far.
