Spain: Departure

Our 2014 Euro trip took us to Spain. It was a self-guided tour from late April to early May. We spent 7 days in Barcelona and 5 days in Madrid, and it was fabulous.

We flew Lufthansa to Spain with one stop at Frankfurt airport. Lufthansa is so so, kind of cramped. In terms of food, it is not as good as Edelweiss Air owned by Swiss Airline. I like Edelweiss Air better. We flew Edelweiss Air to Paris with one stop at Zurich airport last year. I think Edelweiss Air served the best plane food ever. Everything was so fresh, even bread tasted like they just came out from the oven.

The picture above is the best part of the Frankfurt airport. After you pass this area and walk to the gates, it doesn't look as shiny and clean as this area anymore, you are greeted with lots wear and tear instead. Zurich airport is much nicer for connecting flights, it is bright, ultra clean and spacious. I remember last year I was lounging comfortably at Zurich airport during overlay. If I had a choice, I would choose to fly Edelweiss Air/Swiss Airline and transfer in Zurich. But that option is not available for flying to every European city.
