Is it weird to say River God is my favorite in Capitoline museum? It was just so nice to see River God sitting in the quiet courtyard. And we had River God all by ourselves. This massive sculpture, a Roman work of the second century AD, brought serenity to me.
Dying Gaul is a copy of a Greek original dating from the 3rd century BC. It was found in Caesar’s summer house. It is one of the most celebrated pieces from the ancient time. Byron paid tribute to the statue in his poem.

Cupid and Psyche is dated from the 2nd century AD. They are so sweet.

Capitoline Venus emerges from a bath and shyly covers herself. The sculpture was hidden in a wall by its owner during the ancient time, therefore it has survived in perfect condition.
Young Girl with Dove is just adorable. It is dated from the 3rd to 2nd century BC.
Wounded Warrior is dated from the 1st century AD. It is a copy of Torso of Discobolus by Mirone (460 BC).
We went to the cafeteria on the rooftop to have lunch. The sitting area was full, so we brought our lunch to sit outside. The lighting was so beautiful that day. This was definitely a good place to unwind.
After lunch, we photographed the spectacular views from the rooftop. Life was good. The lunch break was perfect.
