Florence, Day 3: Day Trip to Pisa and Cinque Terre Part 2 (花錢受罪)

After we had our photo op with the Leaning Tower of Pisa, we went straight to Cinque Terre, which was another dud. The travel was also not very smooth. It took us 1 and half hours to get there. Why did it take so long? It was mainly due to waiting for the train to come.

There are 5 villages in Cinque Terre: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. We went to Manarola for the famous scene in the postcard. If you travel by train, La Spezia is where you connect to Cinque Terre. If you drive, you have to park your car at La Spezia train station and then take the train. There are no roads for you to drive in Cinque Terre.

Cinque Terre is a very touristy place. The viewpoint for you to take pictures is very crowded. You have to wait for people to leave the spot, then you can get in there and take pictures. How is the scenery? It looks better on the internet. Sadly, the actual view is not as colorful as what you see on the internet. I guess people really took their time to jazz up the colors of their photos in Photoshop or Lightroom. I admire their dedication.

When we tried to get out of the village by the Cinque Terre train, it was a nightmare. People were pushing and shoveling. It was beyond uncivilized.

People usually visit a seaside small town to look at scenery and enjoy some tranquility. You will not have peace and quiet in Cinque Terre, too many people for your liking. I have to say Cinque Terre is the most unrelaxing seaside I have ever been.

The houses are painted in different colors.

There are some restaurants by seaside.

It’s kind of chilling that day. That didn’t stop some people from swimming in the ocean. See the guy in a orange swim trunk in the middle. He was trembling but he still jumped into water.

That trail leads to the viewpoint where you can get the best view of the village. The view is just like what you see in the postcard.
