Madrid, Day 2: Plaza Mayor

If you are looking for a tranquil vacation, look elsewhere, Madrid is a cosmopolitan city with high density of population, narrow streets, lots of cars, all the hustle and bustle and people energy. This is a place to discover Spanish Royal history and check out great museums.

After we checked in the hotel, we slept like a pig on the first day in Madrid and only went out to grab a quick meal at night.  What a shame! This must be a sign of aging. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 2 in Marid, the first place we went was plaza mayor.  This is a real historical site. The square had been a place for bullfights and public executions. I feel that this place is cursed. Standing in the middle of the square, no matter how may cheerful tourists were here, it was just depressing. I don't know why.

The statue in the center of the square is Phillip III, King of Spain. His reign was from 1598 to1621.

There are many restaurants in the plaza. People say most of them are tourist traps. I just took their words for it and ventured outside the plaza to find something to eat.
