Tokyo, Day 2: Sensoji (淺草寺)

Sensoji, Tokyo's oldest temple, is a Buddhist temple. It attracts millions of pilgrims and tourists each year. The temple looks very exotic and the details of the temple are just beautiful.

Hondo, the main hall
The temple is a symbol of peace and rebirth because it was bombed during World War II and rebuilt afterward. It has several entrances and halls. This is the main hall, Hondo.

One of the entrances has a huge red lantern with the words "thunder gate" on it. The dramatic appearance seems to be tourists' favorite photo op. As you can see, you have to fight these tourists to get a good shot. It's not easy. And someone's big head always ends up in your picture.

Near the temple is the street full of eateries and shops selling traditional Japanese crafts.
